2. HISTORY YouTube was founded by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawed Karim in February 2005 in San Bruno, California. They all met when they worked at PayPal, Hurley and Karim as engineers, and Chad as a designer. The domain was activated on February 15, 2005, and on April 23 the first video, Me at the Zoo ('I at the zoo') was loaded. • In 2005, the rapid growth of the site attracted Time Warner and Sequoia Capital, who invested in it, Sequoia had to invest 8.5 million US dollars on the site. By December the YouTube pages were visited 250 million views daily.
