Twitter is one of the most successful Microblogging services and has revolutionized the way of communicating and transmitting news instantly, it is also a social network which allows to send messages or "Tweets" of only 140 characters, using a technology that allows Its current location is in San Francisco, California in the United States and was founded by Jack Dorsey in 2006, who along with some colleagues worked in that year in the company Podcasts Odeo Inc. which had launched Odeo Studio having a strong competition with Apple, due to that need for new ideas was that Jack proposed an SMS-based platform that would update another group of users with fresh information, that's how they began to shuffle various names for their project between those who were «Status», «Twitch» until finally they stayed with Twitter.

ack Dorsey defined the service as a "brief burst of irrelevant information", like the tweet of a bird, this platform was developed in Ruby on Rails which has an API thanks to which this application can work on mobile and desktop platforms, the first message registered on Twitter was made by Dorsey himself at 12:50 on March 21, 2006, in which he reported the following: "Just setting up my twttr" translated as "only adjusting my twttr", at first it was tested only internally by members of the company and shortly after it was made available to the public in July 2006.

The impact of Twitter on society

For the year 2008 Twitter had a team behind 18 people including Jack Dorsey being the CEO until today, a year before he had more than 20,000 Tweets a day and quickly grew to 60000, that 2007 was awarded the South prize by Souhwest Award in the blog category, thanks to the success of Twitter Dorsey founded another company called Twinter Inc. and is officially recognized as co-founders Biz Stone and Evan Williams who managed to get together with Jack an amount of 35 million dollars for part of investment companies, along with other income generated to date amount to more than 55 million dollars and has companies that supported the project among which are Benchmark Capital and Institutional Venture Partners, Square Ventures, Charles River Ventures and Digital Garage.

An important fact about the application is that in 2009 it was finally launched the version of Twitter in Spanish, the service has always been offered as free but has also launched marketing and promotion services, that was given from 2010 with the Promoted Tweets service which come to be sponsored Tweets which are basically paid Tweets which always appear in the first places in order to promote products and services of large and small companies. Twitter was not saved from the attacks as it happened in August 2009 which also affected Facebook and caused the service to be down for a few hours, something similar happened in September 2010 when thousands of users reported errors in the network when receiving difficult messages to understand, in both cases it was possible to reestablish the service after a few hours.

In 2015, Twitter developers launched the Periscope mobile application with which users can perform video transmissions in real time. Its current value is estimated at one billion dollars, this figure was announced by a group of investors, although this figure is not conclusive, especially because of the movement of the shares of the company in the stock market, currently Tiwtter has a great impact on society and in the information and the media.
