Sony PlayStation historia(parte)

Sony PlayStation

No one trusted too much Sony and its new video game system, back in 1993 Sony was a complete stranger in the console market.

The Japanese company had already tried before entering the growing and profitable world of video games working initially for Nintendo.

Sony designed one of the key components of Super Nintendo, the brilliant sound chip. Not only that, both companies also agreed on the design and manufacture of the CD drive. However, Nintendo finally broke with Sony in favor of Philips, its eternal competitor. The picture seemed black for Sony.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Sony continued with the contraption, but already as an independent console.

The Japanese did not want to fail this time. They secured a hardware to the height contracting to Ken Kutaragi, and for the software they were made by 6000 million pesetas with the acclaimed English company Psygnosis.

The rest is history. PlayStation was a success, and even today it remains the most recognizable brand when we talk about videogames

Net Yaroze was a system with the same appearance of a normal unit, but black and in which you can try versions of games in development and of any TV system, either NTSC or PAL. As expected, Sony only provided it to the programming groups so that they had total freedom when they programmed.

Undoubtedly, these technical characteristics placed it above the Saturn of Sega in most cases, and the Nintendo 64 in more sections than Nintendo would have liked ...

As for peripherals, one of the most successful and commented was the control, for its design and its number of buttons, and for being absolutely manageable when playing. This command has had its renewals, and after releasing Nintendo Rumble Pack (pack for control of the Nintendo 64 vibrate), Sony took out its Dual Shock, which had the same properties and, of course, also had two analog sticks in addition to digital.

The Playstation has other common peripherals, such as mice, pistols, flyers, memory cartridges to record games, briefcases, adapters for multiple players, link cables to connect systems, etc. but the most interesting, and that did not reach Europe, was Pocketstation, something similar to the VMS of the Dreamcast: electronic agenda, portable videogame system ... Another remarkable is the signal adapter to be able to see the Playstation on the monitor of a computer.
